We left the coast today and headed inland. The 60 mile ride was not especially scenic, traveling through farm land on rough roads. The first highlight came when we reached a little town of Ferndale and found the best little coffee / pastry shop we've found to date. We enjoyed a cup of tea and an incredible Cinnemon Muffin and Raspberry Coffee Cake. Just what the doctor ordered at mile 34.
We continued our rather boring ride until mile 55 when we entered the AVENUE OF THE GIANTS State Park. We rode the 5 mile stretch to our lodging for the night, a very nice / clean cabin in the woods. Initially we were concerned about what we would do for dinner tonight since there is only one small coffee shop here that closes at 5:30. It was our luck that they offered to say open late (6:30pm) and serve us dinner. So our group enjoyed burgers / chicken sandwiches and an incredible blackberry cobbler a la mode!!
More Avenue of the Giants tomorrow as we make our way to Leggett, Ca.
Best,
M and Big
